Literacy New York celebrates all of the volunteers that make literacy programs work this week, National Volunteer Week. Nationally, the value of the volunteer hour is $27.20. Think about it-- every hour an adult literacy tutor spends working with an adult learner would cost a literacy program $27.20! An hour long board meeting would cost hundreds of dollars! Programs would not be able to serve their communities without these priceless volunteers.
