LNY Kicks Advocacy Machine Into High Gear
The Governor’s proposed budget shows a $1 million cut in the Adult Literacy Education (ALE) line.
Literacy New York is asking all providers, supporters, advocates and learners to encourage NYS Senators and NYS Assemblymembers to restore the $1 million to this year’s state budget AND to add an additional $8 million.
LNY is especially championing the call to action because changes in federal policy could make literacy services more difficult to access. Increased ALE funding will ensure that the many NYS residents who need literacy or language assistance are able to receive it. There are 3.5 million people in New York State who need help.
